The Perfect Lebenese Bride
Ever wonder what the Perfect Bride would be like, let’s say, in Lebanon? Well, never wondered either, but I came across a blog on this topic, and I felt it would be an educational cultural experience if I read it. Well, first of all, this article centers around a TV show airing in Lebanon called “The Perfect Bride.” I don’t know if this reality-TV is actually anywhere close to the reality… but if so, first and foremost, the bride must be approved by her potential mother-in-law. Then she needs to be approved by her potential husband, although they are not allowed to actually see eachother. They communicate through a wall. Then you have to find out how much the guy and gal have in common, by answering questions posed seperately to each party (I’m not sure what type of questions these are. Who’s your favorite actress? What do you do in your free time? What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Do they even have actresses, free time, or ice cream in Lebanon?) And that’s about all I could gather from the blog post. Not having seen the show myself, nor having any desire to, I can’t illuminate you any further…
