iVillage “Design your own wedding gown” Disappoints
iVillage.com has a new feature where you can build your dream wedding dress. I thought it would be fun to try, but I was actually disappointed with the results. First of all, the model is ugly, with a too-small head, prim bun, and large, saggy bosom. Who wants to see their dream wedding dress worn by this woman? Secondly, the “dream wedding dress” that I designed for myself was not all that dreamy because the design options are pretty limited. (I actually did design my own wedding dress, and did much better with a pen, paper, and some bridal magazines as reference!) And thirdly, I’m not exactly sure what use this whole feature is… You can’t try it on your final creation to see how it would look on YOU!!
But… in case you want to try it for yourself, here’s how it works. It’s simple:
First you choose your body shape (hourglass, pear, or apple) and scale the model to match your size.
Then you design the dress, picking the bodice, sleeves, and skirt of your choice.
Finally, you accessorize, with sashes, trims, and veils…
Try it out! Maybe you’ll be more pleased with the results than I was.
